Whatever the news there will always be some whining tosspot moaning about an extra few pounds in Council Tax or suchlike. The fact is that planned properly, this will regenerate London's transport system and a vaste swathe of the East End. And yes someone has to pay for it.

No doubt it'll be outsources to the most incompetant (and most expensive) bidder and end up being a total shambles as per normal. Still on the bright side at least the rest of the world will be watching to laugh at us all..... |

Sorry but I really cannot see any benefit to this at all other than as a flag flying excercise. It will cost 5 billion and yes we will get some lovely sports stadiums in London and I am sure that the transport system will be lovingly restored to adequacy but how long will it last before the local chavs get hold of them?

Quick question - Will all you whining bastards be as quick to complain when agencies come knocking on your door regarding vacancies for Olympic related contracts?

I don't know about you guys, but I'm proud that we in Britain are so fabulous at monumental @#%$-ups (and I don't mind throwing my hard-earned cash down toilets either...).
Ours are not the piffling little hiccups of the mediocre kind - No! We are great at the Millenium Dome/ Heathrow Black Hole /Channel Tunnel kind (although we got the French to pay for that one.. I can see these Olympics will challenge us all to reach the peak of incompetence and mismanagement, but we are on the right track with Tessa Jowell (Olympics Minister) leading us on. It makes you proud to be British... |

A more miserable bunch of whinging old gits you won't find anywhere on the web.
Bloody brilliant, if for no other reason than getting it up the French. One of my biggest regrest in life is leaving Sydney 6 months before the Olympics after 5 years living there. Every single one of my mates there say's it was the greatest time to be in Sydney, a constant party for 2 weeks with the whole city on a high. |

A word of advice.
One or two of you really should seek help for your depression. If your lives really are such a pit of misery as your comments on here suggest. Pretending that you will leave the country soon and solve all your problems is a delusion. With such a negative attitude you wont achieve anything. HTH. |

Excellent News !
I think we should all patriotically dig as deep as we have to in to our pockets to subsidise highly paid and sponsored atheletes. If taxes have to rise to cover the immense costs of infrastucture development, then I don't think anyone would begrudge an extra 10-20% mandatory tax to fund this lavish event. To the negative posters on the board, where is your sense of self-sacrifice ? Come on, it's only money after all, so cough up and stop whinging. Let's be proud of the Win and pour all our money in to it. |
